Welcome to the Functional Genomics Core. The Functional Genomics Core performs expression profiling, SNP genotyping and copy number microarray (Thermo Fisher) services.

Services provided by the core include: Consultation in the choice of genomics methodologies to be applied to research problems being addressed by Digestive Diseases Center members Functional Genomics Core Facility Funded by Montana INBRE, the National Science Foundation, and the MJ Murdock Charitable Trust, the Functional Genomics Core Facility provides instrumentation and support for academic investigators throughout Montana and the Rocky Mountain west. Computing: The Functional Genomics Core Facility currently operates two in-house workstations containing dual 2.93 GHz 12 core/24 thread Intel Xeon X5 processors and 96-128 GB of 1066 MHz RAM. These workstations contain internal hard drives totaling 6 TB of storage space and are connected to a 32TB Pegasus 2 Raid 5 enclosure. Functional genomics encompasses gene discovery, gene expression, protein and nucleic acid structure and function, gene and gene product interactions, and genomic approaches to breeding and comparative studies relevant to ecology and evolutionary biology. Students in the Functional Genomics program will focus on one or more of these areas. Genome-wide screens: The Functional Genomics Shared Resource has developed the infrastructure necessary to conduct high-throughput screens, providing automated liquid handlers, cell platers and plate washers. For plate-based quantitative assays, we have the Cellomics high-content screening system, as well as multimodal plate readers. This Core provides cutting-edge technology to assay gene function both in living animals and in cell culture.
